Village Schools began in Tanzania in early 2005 with what we thought was the ambitious goal of building 56 schools within 20 years. Our first school, Madisi Secondary School was built in 70 days inspiring a movement that has spread to 8 regions of the country. Today we have 39 schools open and another 3 under construction.
The results on the national exams this year were exceptionally good. Not only did 98% of our students pass, but 68% of our students scored so high on the national exams that they are eligible to continue their college studies. Our students and teachers are motivated even more than ever to seek out and draw in students from villages who are not studying and get them into school.
